RWJ/BH Institute for Prevention and Recovery’s Hope and Healing FEMA Program for Ida Storm Recovery
We are providing support to the communities and populations who are still affected disproportionately by the IDA Storm.  We are offering emotional support services, education and community-based resources for individuals and families through a variety of in-person and virtual services, this free program aims to assist those impacted by the disaster to better adjust to their new reality, mitigate stress, review options, develop coping strategies, and, if needed, be a connection to agencies, programs, and other resources in their community. See flyers below for more information.

  • Red Cross: People in need of emergency assistance from the Red Cross can call: (800) RED-CROSS or (800) 507-6058. For people who have been displaced, please use the Red Cross website to find a shelter near you
  • Donations/Volunteerism: If you wish to assist with the recovery efforts, you should check in with your local governments/orgs first, or visit FEMA’s Volunteer/Donate page

Small Business Association:
The Small Business Administration issued the  attached press release  to the media today. Low-interest disaster loans from the SBA are available to businesses and residents in New Jersey following the announcement of a Presidential disaster declaration due to the remnants of Hurricane Ida on Sept. 1-3, 2021.  

The disaster declaration covers Bergen, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Passaic, and Somerset counties in New Jersey, which are eligible for both Physical and Economic Injury Disaster Loans from the SBA. Small businesses and most private nonprofit organizations in the following adjacent counties are eligible to apply only for SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans: Atlantic, Camden, Cumberland, Essex, Hudson, Mercer, Monmouth, Morris, Salem, Sussex, Union and Warren in New Jersey; New Castle in Delaware; Bronx, New York, Orange, Rockland and Westchester in New York; and Bucks, Delaware and Philadelphia in Pennsylvania.

FEMA has declared Hurricane Ida to be a major disaster, and that makes additional resources available for individuals and businesses in Somerset County.
