Mission Statement

The mission of the Watchung Library Advisory Committee (WLAC) is to advise, support, and promote the interests of the Watchung Borough Free Public Library.

The Watchung Library Branch of Somerset County Library System of NJ is located at 12 Stirling Road.

When in-person meetings of the Watchung Library Advisory Committee can be held, they are held in the Bicentennial Room of the Library.

Upcoming Project

The Watchung Library has been serving the community for over 60 years. It has provided a warm and safe place for programs to enrich our community. However, the current facility fails to meet State building codes in many areas.

The borough is working on a comprehensive plan for the library. Additional information can be found under the Library Renovations page.

Authority: Code 2-42

Members: Mayor or Mayor’s Designee, Borough’s School Superintendent or Designee, 1 Member of Borough Council for term of 1-year, 6 Members for term of 3-years. Appointed by Mayor with Council consent; Library Director, ex-officio member.
